Whether he was to be a cartoonist, animator or an illustrator, Scott Gustafson knew from childhood that he wanted to draw pictures for a living. Once he discovered the artists of the Golden Age of Illustration, his early interest in animated cartoons gave way to trying to learn how to paint. Those renown illustrators opened up a world of dynamic and imaginative images that inspired the young art student and set him on an illustrator’s course.
Gustafson’s paintings have appeared on greeting cards, calendars, collector’s plates, limited edition prints, character designs for the animated TV seriesChuggington, as well as on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post. But it is the world of illustration and the fun and challenge of telling stories with pictures that continually inspires him. Some of the books he has illustrated are Peter Pan, Classic Fairy Tales and Favorite Nursery Rhymes from Mother Goose, and Classic Bedtime Stories. He has also written and illustrated a novel for young readers entitled Eddie: The Lost Youth of Edgar Allan Poe.
Mr. Gustafson and his wife live in Chicago, and they have a dog, a cat, and a son, but not necessarily in that order.
